Lil Wayne Chooses Skateboarding Over Rapping
Lil Wayne says he got bored with Rap, now focused on skateboarding.
During an interview with DJ Drama, Weezy says he's putting rap in the backseat in order to fully commit to the lifestyle that skateboarding brings, and that fans deserve a break from him.
"I picked up the skateboard and I thought it would be a hobby, but it's a lifestyle. You have to be fully committed. In order to be fully committed, you have to live that lifestyle. What these young kids say right now, you have to be about that life. I guess I'm about that life," he said. "It's kinda of putting rap on the backburner, that's all. Rap is a taking backseat to skating. That's alright. But I kind of feel I deserve that. … I think fans deserve some peace from me."
Wayne justifies his recent absence in the rap game as being bored, noting that he has been doing it since the age of eight.
" I got bored," he said. "I always feel like I ain't done nothing yet, so I'm always looking for the next thing to do. But other than that, it does get pretty boring when it comes to the rapping and stuff. I've done so much of it, I've been doing it since I was eight. I'm going to be 30 in September, and I'm still rapping. So I kind of feel like I'm getting old."
Wayne still has plans to drop his Dedication 4 mixtape this month, though a date has not been set.
