Pusha T Says Kanye West's Presence Forces Him To Rewrite Verses
Pusha T says that Kanye West helps him master his craft as a lyricist.
During an interview with Complex, Pusha T says he has been working with Kanye West for years. Now that they are all a part of the same group, not only has he written more verses than he ever has in his past, but Kanye helps him to perfect them as well.
"As far as revisions go and revising your verse when you're dealing with G.O.O.D. Music, it happens to all of us. I have never rewritten more verses in my life than right now," he said. "Being signed to G.O.O.D. it just comes with the territory, man. These guys are perfectionists. I write verses and already think they're perfect. At the end of the day, 'Ye will come through and be like, 'Ah, no. We can do better or we can edit that out.' He's really taught me in a sense of what he's looking for now, so now I sort of got it down to a science so I don't got to revisit it so much. But it's not beyond any of us. We revise stuff all the time."
Pusha sees it as an opportunity to become a better rapper and lyricist. He says that though it's hard to take criticism from a 90-time Grammy winner, you've got to listen to somebody.
